Art of Tea: Celectial Seasonings Green Tea

I love tea. And, I’ve been way into tea lately. I love coffee, too, but it’s become more of a special occasion drink for me. Tea is for every day; it is for all day. So, I was excited when Influenster offered me the opportunity to be a part of its Art of Green Tea tasting with Celestial Seasonings green teas to try. These teas have white tea blended in them, which they say is for smoothness. I can attest that the teas are very smooth, but I’ve always found white tea to impart a fruity, sometimes floral flavor to blends.

The first tea I tried with the lemon ginseng green tea. I had it as my afternoon cuppa. I really enjoyed the smoothness of the tea (they’re not wrong about the white tea adding smoothness) and the lemon was delicious. I added a little sugar to it. I didn’t mind the ginseng at all (I’m not usually a huge ginseng fan.)

The real test though of the sleepy time green tea with jasmine. I *love* jasmine tea. And, if my shelves are any indicator I both can’t stop myself from buying it and people can’t help but give me jasmine tea. When I opened the packet I was shocked at first by the smell of it. I couldn’t smell jasmine at all. What I could smell was spearmint, which I’m not a huge fan of. But, I made it as my evening cuppa anyway. I added a little coconut almond milk and some sugar again and I was blown away by how delicious it was. I don’t know if it was the combination of the almond, coconut, spearmint, jasmine or what but based on that cup I’d definitely have it again. Even with the spearmint. But, the real test was the tea without any milk in it. And, I liked it. The jasmine was really subtle, as was the spearmint. It was intriguing and I kept sipping it trying to figure it out. I’m not sure if it made me sleepy, though, given that it was a taste puzzle.

I was really impressed by the smoothness and I really look forward to trying more of the varieties.

One final note, Celestial Seasonings was mentioned in this article about pesticides in tea and I feel I would be remiss if I didn’t mention this. I trust that they are a good brand run by good people and that they’ve also seen this article and have taken steps to remedy the situation but I do not know that they have and so, please keep this in mind when you are shopping for tea.

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes.
